One of the best ways to improve your financial situation is to work a side hustle.

You can only improve the situation by doing what you can, no matter why the crunch began. Increase your income or eliminate expenses for a better financial position.

What is a Side Hustle?

A side hustle is a job that brings in extra money beyond your regular job and main source of income. It’s often something that you do on your own terms and in your spare time.

There are many different side hustles you can have but many require expertise that can take time and money to learn. While those can be worth it if you need something fast a side hustle without expertise can be helpful.

The Best Side Hustle Ideas

It is possible that not all side hustles will not be aligned with your current job but they can help you out of a financial bind by adding another source of income. If it doesn’t fit your current career goals and plans, treat it as a temporary measure, use the funds to pay off debt, and avoid becoming dependent on it.

These are some ideas for side hustles you can start trying right away.

Drive part-time

You can drive people in your community to their community events and activities for about 20 dollars per hour if you’re a good driver and have a decent family car.

There are several options available to you: Uber.com, Lyft.com, or non-emergency medical transportation such as Veyo.com.

You do want to consider fuel costs. The higher the fuel costs for your car the less money you will be able to earn with this side hustle.

Deliver Groceries

Shopping for groceries for people in your area is another way to earn money fast. It is possible to register with many online shopping websites, including Instacart.com and Shipt.com. Some stores, such as Target and Walmart, even have their e-commerce apps.

This is a great option if you enjoy grocery shopping and can be fast and efficient.

Laundry for someone else

Despite what you may not realize, some people cannot or do not want to do laundry. A platform like Thumbtack.com can help you advertise your service online easily. If you live near a doctor or nurse, you can also leave your card with them.

This side hustle can be really nice if you are at home during the day as you can start loads of laundry while you are doing other things.

Walk Dogs

As a dog walker, several platforms can help you promote yourself. Take advantage of the apps like Rover.com or work with different community HOAs to market your services.

This can be a fun side hustle if you love dogs. You can also pet sit for clients for even more income.

Rent Your Basement

Are you located in an area with a fair amount of business or tourist traffic? If so your home can be listed on an Airbnb similar site so you can make money renting it out. Alternatively, a roommate who pays your rent can also help with expenses.

You can also rent your home out if you are going on a long vacation. This won’t be for everyone but is a side hustle that can earn you a lot of money.

Become a Personal Assistant

It would be great if you could assist those in need of errands in your local area. Setting up a website and contacting your local newspaper is a great way to get the word out.

You can also become a virtual assistant and help people without having to leave your home. Many small business owners use virtual assistants to do all kinds of tasks. Some tasks do require expertise but many do not and often the business owner is happy to do some training.

Selling Your or Others’ Stuff

There are platforms like eBay.com and Poshmark.com where you can sell all your old clothing easily and quickly. You can also find items to sell at thrift stores, garage sales, and other places.

If you don’t want to ship items you can sell on local Facebook groups. This can be a bit of a time consuming side hustle but also a really easy one.

Fill out Surveys

There are several places online that offer money for filling out surveys. Some good ones to try are Amazon Mechanical Turk and Swagbucks.

Each survey won’t generally make you much money but it adds up and is something that is really easy to do in your spare time.
